I think that next I'll read Animal Farm, by George Orwell. The first time I read it, I was 12, and don't think I gleaned the same understanding from it that I would now. Maybe afterwards I'll read 1984.

haha i know how u feel.. i read that last year... i dont like charles dickens.. his books never really interest me...
ReD
We never had to read the whole charles dickens books before,
but the excerpts that we've had to read where ridiclously boring.

Um...I was reading "Speak" (Can't remember the author) for reading class. We're supposed to read it together, but I guess I'm a fast reader, because I finished the book in two days or so. They got mad 'cause I'd be about fifty pages ahead of them. xD
Speak is surprisingly funny. I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but so far its been my favorite book this year. The story is about a high-school girl who dosnt like to talk. The entire school hates her because she called the cops on the big end-of-summer party and so many people got introuble that they all hate her. Its telling about how she goes through the year, and its quite funny the way she describes things. The school mascot fight is funny, too. xD

You should read it soon, you'll like it.
I'm almost done with mine but I feel like I still have so much to learn from it.

I read Animal Farm when I was about 14.
I really enjoyed it but I think I would
understand it more now, too.

Augusten Burroughs is an amazing author. so far, the only thing i have NOT read by him is Sellivision, his fiction book. I love all his memoris. i agree with whoever said he's funny without really trying to be. it's very true. he's a great author.

What i'm reading at the moment is Post Office by Charles Bukowski.
it's a pretty fast read. not too bad of a book either.

And i'm also reading The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult. another brillaint author. so far the book is really good.

When I was forced to read it in High School, they said it was banned in a lot of schools ... so I was excited to read it and after I read it ... I was wishing it was banned at our school. Not that great of a book and overall, just boring to read
MusicMania
I didn't have to read it for school. I just read it. I don't really remember that many details of the book. It wasn't horrible, but not amazing either...

sorry, i'm talking about Catcher in the rye.

Ugh, everytime I see this topic I get so frustrated cuz I can't remember the name of the book I'm reading. sad.gif It's probably because I'm not too into it.

Someone should suggest some books for me, because I've really been in the mood for reading the past few weeks.

How could you not know the name of the book your reading ... its right on the cover and you have to pick it up and read it everytime you do ... so, shouldnt you see the title of the book?

Well, first and foremost because Holden is a fucking crybaby.

Mostly though I think it's because I read it in college instead of high school. It's much more of a book for high schoolers to relate to, I think. So many people talk it up and they're like oh my god you're just like Holden and when I read it I was like wow, I seriously hope I'm not like that. I mean, storywise it's ok. Nothing special really. I just can't stand Holden's incessant whining.

Because I JUST started it the other day, and honestly I don't find it too interesting, so I guess I just don't care enough to remember. It's also not a book I picked out or anything. One of my friends handed it to me &said "Read this!"

books to read?

I love Nick Hornby: About a Boy or A long Way down are really good books!

if you are AT ALL interested in what happened at columbine and beforehand, then read No easy answers: the truth behind death at columbine by brooks brown and rob merritt.

it's pretty amazing and really informative i think. it also comes from a neat perspective...b/c Brooks was friends with Eric and Dylan, though NO, he does not agree at all about what they did. Eric used to attack him actually....you'll see if you read it. i love it.

what else? hmm...I love Jodi Picoult books. the pact and my sister's keeper are good...

if you like classics, The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde was good...

But i'm not an a big reader, and me actually reading something is something pretty extraordinary. So with that said, it MUST be a great book... and it is.

But I am currently reading New Moon.
The 2nd book in the Stephenie Meyer series.
