well, i was going to sleep. and i was listening to slip like space. thinking again, this song has some random lyrics (not saying i dont like the song). but i was just wondering. what is the song about?

i kinda think its like a prelude to WTDWYD but thats just me.

well i like to think that songs are more unless how you interpret it, but here it goes...

it seems it's pretty much about how he (ben) feels different from everyone as if he's an alien. hence, being in space would be much more like home to him then earth.
"this planet wasn't made for me"
"my home is in the void up there"

then lots of other stuff is just imagery and what not relating to that general theme.
Broomy
Uh, the lyrics aren't random really. Pretty straight forward if you ask me.
Brandon
ya. i never really thought about that much. i guess yor right, the lyrics arent really that random.

my full interpetation would be like:

He (ben or whoever the person is) is tired of being rejected by his significant other so he just starts driving.

"diners turn into space ports"

he kinda starts to doze off in the middle of driving, then

"Approach light speed, And break apart"

just makes me think he is tired of all this and he puts his foot on the gas and just starts speeding dangerously fast,

"i'll be in the wormhole soon"
&
"This planet was not made for me"

make me think that he is probobly gonna commit suicide.

which links me to car underwater. as he probly drove off a cliff or a bridge or so.

and that is my take on the song biggrin.gif

scouterdef

Dude, you just didnt link Slip Like Space to Car Underwater did you???
Armour For Sleep
Yeah I find it to be pretty random, but its still catchy as hell smile.gif

In addition to taking some things too literally, yeah he did.
Brandon
is that a bad thing?

its just i know that at least WTDYD is kind of a story. and every story needs a beginning. i still need to get one last regret (scouterdef, thats my bad not yours. even though you probly arent taking offense or anything) so i guess thats probly the prelude.

and yes, i just did link the two.

you also have to take into account the fact that ben hadn't written any songs off of Dream to Make Believe with car underwater or any other songs in mind. so no offense or anything. but it's a little far fetched to say there's a link between the songs (it's also probly cause you haven't heard one last regret either)
scouterdef

He wrote Slip Like Space as one of their first songs written, so maybe he wrote One Last Regret on the lines of that ... possible, but I highly unlikely.

I, personally, hate the song Car Underwater.

What do you hate so much about it? I find it interesting
scouterdef
Well, it brought a new crowd of people to armor for sleep, and I will agree that not all of them are bad, but it brought a really bad mtv crowd over with them.

But thats not the real reason why I hate the song, I dont know why .... but for some reason the song just drives me nuts and I usually skip it when im in my car listening to it. Just something about that song, that I hate.
Brandon
i think i need to do some studying up on when songs were written and stuff before i can concretely say that they were connected. it just kinda caught my attention that it could.

And car underwater i think just doesnt have a lot playability. cuz if you play it too much you kinda start to dislike the song.

Bingo was his name-O...... But, I didnt like it the first time I heard it.
Armour For Sleep
What are you guys talking about, I think Car underwater is one of their best songs. But hey thats just my opinon.
Anesthetic
well I can see how it can get annoying or if its just not your thing. But adding a whole new crowd of fans shouldnt be terrible. All things like that are inevitable, granted the MTV kids do suck, I can't blame the band for that.i just find more pride in the fact that i helped armor since thw beginning when the new crowds ccome in.
scouterdef

Like I said, that wasnt my basis of hating the song, even though it did make it harder to purchase tickets to their show.

Ohh I know, just a deep thoughts rant haha.
and it did make it more hesitant to get tickets, cause I just sit around hating most I the people there now
scouterdef

Yeah, but im going to go and enjoy Armor set, because ive yet to see a terrible performance of theirs... I may not like any of the other bands, but still worth going.

It must suck having a wrong opinion!

Seriously though, I like the song, but I wouldn't consider it to be anywhere near one of their best.

The two albums were written years apart and Dream to Make Believe was basically a solo effort. Aside from certain themes, which are usually consistent in any artist's work, I find a hard time finding any real connections between the two.
Anesthetic
yeaaa their set should rock this coming tour. I hope they play an encore this time too since last time they didn't sad.gif
