I'm the back up bookkeeper at work and next week I'm doing the books four times, but luckily I get to listen to music in my little office. I don't mind listening to the radio trash my friend has ripped to the comp once in a while (it's good to get familiarized with the songs before we go out dancing), but I've overplayed everything on the computer, so I want to bring in my own stuff. I'm pretty tired with most of what I've got, so I'm looking for new stuff for a mix CD. Please keep my interests in mind as in I don't listen to a large majority of the crap you guys do. I'd prefer something that doesn't take too much attention. Pleasant, smart stuff, but mainly something that's good background music. And it has to be business appropriate, so nothing crude, no swearing, etc. Thanks.

I don't really know your music tastes, but here are some things I like for background music: Elliott Smith, Brand New (anything from Deja Entendu on), Further Seems Forever, Mae, Death Cab, Postal Service, Incubus, Rocky Votolato, The Smiths, The Spill Canvas (Sunsets &Car Crashes), Waking Ashland.

Sorry if I wasn't of much help =\

Yeah, I'm already familiar with a great deal of what you guys mentioned, but a lot of the stuff I did know I hadn't thought about, so good stuff. I'll make a list of the bands I don't know in a minute so you guys can suggest some stand out tracks for me to get acquainted with.

There's actually a ton on there that I've always meant to listen to and for whatever reason (laziness) haven't yet, so I can take care of that now as well.

Rocky, I'd go for the first cd which is Suicide Medicine. My favorite song off of it is "Prison Is Private Property (A Life Of Your Own)". Another few worth listening to are "Alabaster," "The Light &The Sound," and "Secrets of a Salesman".

Spill Canvas: "The Tide," "So Much," and "Sunsets &Car Crashes"

Waking Ashland: "Shades of Grey," "Rumors," and "Long Shot". (Pretty much anything from the album Composure.

Again, no idea if any of these are "your thing" but here's to hoping!
