love them?
hate them?
somewhere inbetween?

i don't like them.
i think they're way too overrated..
if that makes sense.
i use to love them when they were younger.
i find it amazing how rapidly their popularity increased.
that just blew me away over the past couple of years.
_melissa
i liked them back when they weren't all that big.
but then it happened
and they all started wearing scary make-up
which is a turn off in my opinion.
i hope afs never wears make-up like that laugh.gif
dreamsarereal
yeah i saw them in like 2005 i think.
and they didn't even have their own banner or anything.
they opened for the nintendo fusion tour.
i loved them
then they got really famous.
i listen to them once every month or something.
and i have like 5 shirts.
i kind of regret having them lol
scouterdef

Yeah I hate them.... my Girls 12 year old sister is in love with them. They sound like nails on a chalk board to me
samantha
I used to like them in the beginning and then it got old really fast. Sometimes I still listen to a few of their songs, though.

umm what???

jon walker is the most manly looking one in the band. he doesnt wear makeup, he has a beard, and he definatly doesnt wear ridiculous rose vests and stuff.
icas
I'd totally blow this band and fob off the face of the earth if I could get away with it.

ifyouaskmeallofthemlookgirly.

but I'm just sayin'.

it's pretty ridiculous some of the stuff they wear.
dreamsarereal
i thought the new guys name was ryan or something.
he's been mentioned before...
cassiee625
i used to like them and then they got really overplayed so i just got annoyed by them & now the only song i can stand is camisado.
EssArh
Shame on the name of Name Taken's - Panic. <---Great song by the way.

P!ATD just got annoying quick.
Catchy first, annoying lasts.
Ashley
I was extremely obsessed with them back when nobody knew who they were; like the rest of u.
I would ask someone if they liked them and they would just laugh and be like "that is the wierdest band name ive ever heard"
They got old after freaking i write sins not tradgedies
ugh i HATE that song!

i still like to sing a few of their songs wiht my best friend, though; because they have interesting lyrics.
ya know?
kellay fo fellay
haha, like but it's better if you do.
interesting lyrics.
dreamsarereal
my favorite was london beckoned songs about money written by machines

i wish they weren't so famous.
now i'm stuck with all of these panic! shirts that i never want to wear again lol
Ashley
lol
i only have 1 panic shirt
and i feel bad cause my friend got it for me for my birthday
and i don't wear it
but she still wears the underoath shirt i got her for HER birthday
(then again, she still LIKES underoath)
All Warm
I still like Panic!
They're unique.

I have a P!ATD shirt, but it's wayyy too big, since a friend gave it to me for my birthday.
I'd represent if I could. happy.gif
Alison
I guess I'm the odd one out here...but I really like Panic! At The Disco.
You can say all you want about how they aren't cool and how I'm probably a loser for liking them, but oh well...
And I think they are doing something new and it doesn't bother me the way that they look.
^ like you said, they are unique^
and that's what I LOVE.

hah that was my favorite song, too.
"just for the record, the weather today is slightly sarcastic with a good chance of
a. indifference or
b. disinterest in what the critics say"

even if is a reference of something else...

ps. their make up is still dumb. hahah
dreamsarereal
hahaha yeah i thought they were really cool.
then they got too famous.
and everyone likes them.

i dressed up as them for halloween.
i'm doing that forever and ever now.
it was theeee best cool.gif
_Angelahh_
I hate saying I don't like them because I actually do kinda like them. It's just whenever I do I get called a loser poser or something. So I like to say I don't like them, but I feel like a music snob or something when I do.But I really don't think someone should be ashamed to like a band just because they're famous.
_melissa
oh no not at all should anyone be ashamed.
i like a lot of bands that are now too famous.
but for me i just stopped liking them.
if i still did, i would say so regardless of the fame status.
armorforliz
I don't really like P!ATD a ton, but I did have to add to this, because my friend just ordered me one of their shirts.... it has a mariachi guy on it and it says "Hispanic! at the Disco" &I thought it was funny.
on_display
i like them, i bought the cd when it was new purely because my friend like them. i liked it, and i hate that people lose interest in them just because theyre famous. it's called the music BUSINESS guys.
dreamsarereal
yeah we know what it's called

but there's a point when people start making music for themselves and when they start making it for money and fame, and they've exceeded the money and fame point.

Exactly.... Well put, making music should be about putting your heart and soul into an album and loving it, and the money being an added bonus. Not just caring about the money.
on_display
thatd be a good argument if you werent talking about a band with so little history.

they went straight to pete wentz knowing he was accessble and achieved success.
one cd, thats all they have.
they didnt even make anything of substance before it.
so how can they have stopped making music for thmselves
when they just started?

"i only liked them before they were big"
well thats a shame.
dreamsarereal
sure,they love music.
but they overdid how big they got.
i saw them in concert in december and it was a fucking circus.
i had seen them 2 years ago and they didn't even have their own banner.
and yeah they only have one cd out but they're probably rushing and making a new cd that has no heart in it.
just like fob's new cd.
i love them, but that cd was shit.
when a band is that big, labels make them write a new album soon after.
when they made From under the cork tree,it had been like 3 years to make it from take this to your grave, it was good.
and it took them one year to make infinity. it was obviously forced.
i don't hate panic! but it's just sad when you see bands you like get so into themselves.

a lot of people tend to argue with the "i liked them before they were famous"
yeah be successful, but don't let your ego grow,it sucks for old fans because it will never be the same cuz you won't feel that close relationship with them because theres millions of people listening to them now as opposed to a couple thousands.
scouterdef

Kind of like Armor for Sleep, you can tell that they arent being rushed to make this album, because obviously, if they were, it would be out by now. Dreamsarereal makes good points, cept for seeing Fall Out Boy, that wasnt one tongue.gif

I too get annoyed that the bands i love get huge, but I just annoyed because ticket prices go up and stupidity from the crowd. But it also shows the band that they have a ton of support, which means they usually stick together and produce more great albums

yeah, i guess you're right about them sticking together when they have a ton of support.

I'm a fan of Panic. I don't think anyone can really say 'they are in it for the money' or whatever, because you just don't know. I mean, if you don't like the music..you don't like it...we all have different tastes and I'm all good with that. It's not for you. So I don't know. I'm a fan. i'm a fan of a ton of other stuff too.

anyway..has anyone on here seen this?

I saw panic live a year ago this july.
biggrin.gif it was cool, we met them.
fizz
i like panic their interesting and different

Ryan Ross usually is the one interviewed since hes lyricist, and he seems like a genuine nice guy. I don't think their in for the money ryan said they wanted to grow and plays shows for just a couple hundered kids. They didn't expect to be on mtv so quickly. I think if anyone has changed it's brendon hes acts a little cocky in interviews he use to be funny and obnoxious.
armor for sleep rox my sox
panic!at the disco is very unique that's y i like them
but i don't know if i love them

bu they've changed a lot, all my friends that are girls are head over heels for them...they go see them whenever they hit jersey or nyc....and they say that the times that they have met the band they seem arrogant, cocky, and they just find it a huge turn off...when bands get that big to the point when you have that big an ego, it just kind of shows how you've changed from playing to just put your heart and soul into your music, into someone who wants the money and fame....i never liked Panic! so i might be a little biased, but i dont know, i just kinda see them as sell outs who just care about the fame and glory and the money that comes with being a famous band...like Armor tries to interact with their fans when they play shows, and keep a close fanbase, but the guys especially Ben are really nice and down to earth, from what my friends have told me with Panic!, its been just the opposite...
Broomy
Maybe that's the way they've always been. I've come across some shitty tiny ass bands that thought they were hot shit.

that's pretty evil

but just because you were so specific on how you wanted him to die haha
Jared
Him? i said band.

In fact the producers, engineers, merch staff, stage actors and the rest of the faintly related Panic associates can all die in a chemical fire.

Arrrg... you guys, I feel the need to break this to you- MOST bands in our happy little genre do not make money. They make enough to get by for now IF they have a hit song, which Panic has had a few, but trust me... they're probably not rollin in it.

Besides that, for any of you that have attempted to record music before, it's damn expensive and most bands rack up thousands in debt before being signed, then are locked in to a contract with lots of recoupable assets.

Also, we're talking about a band who broke during their first album, which means that in the course of it some people were turned off because of their fame. It's not like they made an album, then were told by men in suits that they needed to change this and that to make money, so they scrapped album # 1 and made # 2 in order to hook everyone. NO ONE KNOWS THE ANSWER TO WHAT WILL BREAK AND WHAT WILL NOT. If you do, please call me- there is a job waiting.

If you've ever had the experience of getting to know an artist you'd know that they're pretty oblivious to everything surrounding their career, including records sold, money, marketing, tour schedule... everything. All they know how to do is write and play music and that consumes them as it should. It is different with pop stars and country because they are by nature much more lucrative and a lot of the artists do not write their own songs. It is strange how we start to feel like we're not needed when a band starts to see success. It's almost like being friends with someone who suddenly becomes popular or whatever and they don't have any time for you. Bands are not like that... one fan's adoration won't ever be trumped by another's.

Furthermore, (and then I'm done- I promise) it is a VERY good thing for our beloved genre when a band like this gets a ton of attention. The Panics and Fall Out Boys of the world do a great job of bringing attention to the smaller bands of their genre. People fall in love with a big band like that and want to go deeper in to the genre.

There are exceptions to every rule- some band members are materialistic d-bags, but you probably wouldn't want to buy their music anyway. We're talking about boys in their early 20's who caught a break- they should definitely enjoy the ride.

Well said... and informative to boot.

You're so cool.

Cant agrue with Haley... because, well she's right. My buddys are trying to produce an album and get themselves out there, and I am glad I dont have their debt. Thats all I have to say.

can't argue with that, cause my friends recorded a 5 song EP for like $6500....and I have another, who just got signed to Universal Republic Records...and just went to Cali to record their full length, and I'm just really happy that I'm not in their debt... you really need to be dedicated as hell to break into the music biz... I just really don't know how they do it...
