the first person to say Hawthorne Heights is emo, i'm gonna smack you.
emo has NOTHING to do with "cut my wrist and black my eyes".
emo music is all about how it sounds, not the lyrics.
think about it this way, if...AC\DC or any rock band had a song about dying, a girl or something, it's still rock...
but all of a sudden because Hawthorne Heights sings about cutting or something, they're emo? wtf.
try listening to some real emo bands..
Frodus
Sunny Day Real Estate
Rites Of Spring
Soulside
i could go on...
ok. if you are really bread, i would sodomize with you. HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS is like my life outside of AFS. They actually saved my life. and i owe them anything and everything. i would take a bullet for them.
but more on topic.
There's a book called "Everybody Hurts." Probably most of you have heard of it. i read it in about 2 days. little bit less, but whatever. it had some good points in it. if you take the time to read it, it doesn't just bash the Emo culture. it explains it, and at times, does poke fun at it.
and it's true that if you can take the best emo picture on myspace, you'll elegedly amass 36million[not a stupid bulletin-type curse, but it builds up] "friends" and then get deleted. it's a fact. "Emo" kids take better pictures for myspace. but i digress. Emo is a type of music. it's not a type of person.
there is no type of person, persay. you could lable someone "prep" "emo" "goth" "nerd" etc, but does it really matter? while we're alive, we thinks it does. but does it really? ill answer for you. no. it doesn't. to be labled is stupid; to lable people is even more stupid.
and people say "whull.....I dont
see color." BULLSHIT. yes you do. we like to think everyone is equal, but steryotypes are too prevelant. they're here now. they've been here for centuries[all the way back to BC times[BCE, so i dont offend anyone]. they'll be here forever. it's a fact. we should overlook them, but it's impossible. it is.
to quote the "trusty" wikipedia,
"A subsequent United States Department of Justice report which surveyed homicide statistics between 1974 and 2004 stated that of the crimes surveyed, 52.1% of the offenders were Black, 45.9% were White, and 2% were Other Races. Of the victims in those same crimes, 51% were White, 46.9% were Black, and 2.1% were Other Races."
African-Americans contribute to a higher number of inamtes in jails. its a fact. because of that fact, racial profiling sets in.
racial profiling is just a fancy way to say racism. it's here. it's gonna stay. it sucks, but it's true. so for people to say they don't see color, what would you do if someone asked you to walk down the most notoriously "ghetto" street in your city. would you say
A.)no. I'll get shot
B.)How much? ... How much will you pay me?
C.)sure. [then never actually do it]
no matter your answer, you're racist. but it's not without reason. chances are, if you're white and look rich, you have a higher chance of getting mugged or shot on a poverished street than an african-american that looks to be poversihed as well.
too bad. it's how the world is, and it will never change.
Peace in the middle east,
Jacob
