OK, so you all knew it was coming. Someone had to start the topic where everyone gets to talk about their best, funniest, first, or just random Armor related memory, whether it be actually talking to the band, or the first time you ever heard one of their songs.
So I'll start Mine is just sort of a first/random story. When I was in my sixth grade year, maybe slightly earlier, my sister had this black shirt that said "Armor" on the front and had wings on the back. I always loved the shirt purely because of the wings, but never knew it was from a band. Eventually after months of begging she gave it to me. Soon I found out why. The stitching on the bottom of the shirt had been made of plastic, and burned in the dryer the day before. Everytime you moved it would scratch your stomach, but I didn't care, I still made sure my mom washed it every weekend so I could wear it EVERY week. By that point I had enherited her old IPod, which still had all her music, including the AFS stuff. On the way to school one morning I decided to listen to them for the first time(she had told me by now that it was a band t-shirt and the band's whole name). At that moment, a very tiny AFS fan was born! P.S. Does anyone know if the boards will be going down anytime soon? |

Tough to choose from, there have been so many great ones.
I'd have to say the best has been at the hurley studios. Even if I had met and talked to the boys already, this was a whole other level. I got to meet a lot of great people through this band, and I got to meet some of them that day. The performance was so intimate, it was just amazing to be so close to them while they were performing. Definitely one of the best days of my life so far. Also, when I first saw them live...I believe in '06. I was front row, getting smashed by sweaty/ heavy people at warped. I didn't care though, cuz I was finally seeing them. Like always, a great show. Damn, I'm really going to miss these guys. I wish I was able to go to more shows. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm with Jaz there. But I do have a lot to choose from myself, haha.
Hurley Studios in '08- Haley and Hurley put up an acoustic Armor show for about 10-15 people. I was lucky enough to be one of them (one of the benefits of living in Cali when I did, haha) and it was a day I'll never forget. The performance was amazing and like Jaz said, so intimate. It was a nice time for us to get to spend with the guys without them being bombarded. and another for me was when i went on the tour bus in anaheim for the SFT listening party. Anthony was so funny that day and it was awesome getting a glimpse of the album before it came out. And being with them to do so, it was a lot of fun. I miss these guys terribly and it's a shame they aren't together anymore but I am thankful for being able to see them as many times as I have and for them being so amazing to me and everyone else. -------------------- i never signed up for this abyss. |

The two memories Rose mentioned are two of my favorite AFS moments as well. I felt incredibly privileged to be able to experience their craft in such an intimate setting.
The other was many moons ago at a show in San Diego where I yelled for Frost and Front Steps. Ben said maybe, but then never played it, so later while my friend and I were hanging out in the hallway area waiting for STUN to finish up their horrid set Ben walked by and I think I said something along the lines of thanks for getting my hopes up. Then he promised he'd play Frost and Front Steps at Chain Reaction the next night if we went to the show. At the time my poor little Honda Accord would overheat if I drove for longer than 30 minutes, so we told him we couldn't. He kept trying to convince us to go, telling us to take a train or something. Who takes a train? -------------------- |

There are so many to choose from, but because of these guys I owe so many great memories not really relaying to the band but more so of a life changing events that took place. Basically keeping 'Dream to Make Believe' on repeat during my battle with depression to the journey across the Eastern United States to see them play at Skate'n'Surf. But, mainly to see them gain the success they deserved is a great memory that I'll cherish. First time I saw them, they were booed and maybe 2-3 people (including myself) singing all the words to their songs to the last time, where they played a sold out show (at the same place they were booed) and everyone in the whole house screaming out the lyrics to their songs. Also, when they did the acoustic sets before some shows, was simply amazing and really got to see the softer side of the guys. Lastly, how they took the time to go out in the crowd after their sets and actually talk to their fans or people that hated them. I will remember the small conversations I had with Ben and even the long one I had him with after Skate'n'Surf. They were an amazing band and I like to see them give it one more go around to say goodbye to their fans the right away. They will be missed but always be in my playlists. Thank you Armor For Sleep and I wish you all the best in your new projects. -------------------- |
